A qualifying employer is generally an employer with 20 or more full-time-equivalent employees. However, the legislation was subsequently amended to instead impose an excise tax upon an employer whose health plan fails to satisfy the applicable rules. Because of the discrepancy between the official name of the Act and the year in which it was enacted, some government publications refer to the Act as the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986.Īs originally enacted, Title X of the Act provided that a qualifying employer will not be permitted to take a tax deduction for its health insurance costs unless its health insurance plan allows employees of the employer and the employee's immediate family members who had been covered by a health care plan to maintain their coverage if a "qualifying event" causes them to lose coverage. Tooltip Public Law (United States) 99–272, 100 Stat. The violation for failing to meet those criteria was subsequently changed to an excise tax.Īlthough this statute became law on April 7, 1986, its official name is the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 ( Pub. The law deals with a great variety of subjects, such as tobacco price supports, railroads, private pension plans, emergency department treatment, disability insurance, and the postal service, but it is perhaps best known for Title X, which amends the Internal Revenue Code and the Public Health Service Act to deny income tax deductions to employers (generally those with 20 or more full-time equivalent employees) for contributions to a group health plan unless such plan meets certain continuing coverage requirements. COBRA includes amendments to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Calimshan is ruled by the Pasha in Calimport, although each city governs itself in practice, with the Pasha being unable to carry out any major actions without the permission of at least some of the cities' viziers. Magic-users are held in high esteem, being the providers of the much-sought-after magical devices. Gadgets and magical items are commonly found in Calimshan, where they are widely used as labor-saving devices. While few attain this goal, most Calimshanites aspire towards it. In Calimshan, wealth is of the utmost importance, which is sought after so that the seeker can lead a life of leisure. The lands bordering it are only slightly more fertile. The Calim desert covers a sizable area of Calimshan, and dominates much of Calimshan's life and outlook as a result. Jim Bambra described Amn as "the kind of area that most adventuring groups will find very unhealthy". Spellhold features strongly in the video game Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. Spellhold is an asylum located on the island of Brynnlaw, off the western coast of Amn, under the command of the Cowled Wizards of Athkatla, used to house the 'deviants' they have found in Amn, practicing magic without an official license. The city of Murann (pop 43,773) has fallen into the hands of two Ogre mages and their forces, capturing many of the treasure ships in harbour. Major towns include Crimmor (pop 35,491), a walled trade hub Eshpurta (pop 105,000), the main military city Keczulla (pop 47,733), a gem mining town and Purskul (pop 27,210), a granary city. Amn's capital is Athkatla, which was founded in 100 DR, which is year 0 in Amnreckoning (little used except in official documents). It attracts adventurers from many lands, even from outside Faerûn. It is a tremendously wealthy nation, holding colonies in far away Maztica and controlling important trade routes to Calimshan and Baldur's Gate. Adventuring groups and magic-users are actively discouraged from plying their trades, unless they are properly licensed with the government. With the council promoting free enterprise, the making of money takes precedence over everything else, and anyone who can make money is well respected. During one trade war, the Council of Six, with a mysterious membership comprising some of Amn's most powerful trade houses, emerged as leaders of a united country. The country was once divided, with its cities banding together only for mutual defense, while the rest of the time they struggled with each other over trade routes. Conversations are filled with references to money, whether or not the current topic has any connection with financial transactions. The economy is mostly fishing, but piracy is exceptionally high here and may be counted as part of the economy.Īmn is the land of focus in the titular game Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn.Īmn is a place where everything is geared towards the acquisition of money, and the conspicuous consumption of the rich is evident everywhere. Its capital is Spandeliyon, and the inhabitants distrust non-humans, especially elves. This area is rumored to have once been the elven realm of Yuireshanyaar, home to the all but forgotten race of Star Elves.Īglarond is constantly fending off attacks from Thay.Īltumbel is a "sub-peninsula" that is, a peninsula's peninsula, which is located at the western end of the peninsula of Aglarond. It is mostly humans who make up the nearly 1,300,000 inhabitants, though one third are half-elves and a fair number elves. On the north are the Dragonjaw Mountains. Filled with magic and mystery, it is ruled by one of the most potent spellcasters of the Realms, the Simbul, who also has an affair with the immensely powerful archmage Elminster. Most of its land is covered by the Yuirwood. It is a peninsula bordered on the west by the Sea of Fallen Stars and Altumbel and on the East by Thay. Aglarond is an autocratic kingdom on the continent of Faerûn in the southwesternmost part of the Unapproachable East, with the capital of Velprintalar. When we arrived we were greeted with a very friendly reception then she gave us 6 cards 2 for door 2 for all inclusive then 2 for your glass you get the card back when finished then a leader to go in to the reception On arriving in our room we found a very dated room the balcony only had 1 chair not enough room for a table but it was full of bird poo from the sign doesn’t look like it has ever been cleaned The pool is small but clean not enough loungers or chairs for size of hotel Food in snack bar was good and all the staff were very friendly The food is unreadable soup like greasy dish water plaster hard only thing that was eatable were the chips and tbh I don’t each chips Breakfast was typical buffet nothing was warm not even the beans Coffee was good and pastries were ok Oh and the air con just doesn’t work u can hear it but it’s useless we left it on all day with doors and winds closed even curtains when you walked in room it was red hot night as well not bothered leaving it on but had to close the windows because of the birds on the balcony living in the sign Personally would never recommend or stay here again… Would I stay in this hotel again? Most definitely but probably not in high season … It's a nice train journey along the beach. However, you do have to get your ticket validated at the machines either at the ticket office or at the station. Barcelona is an hr and 15 minutes away and is €11 return on the train which are easy to navigate. There are mostly shops and restaurants and a few bars and 2 nightclubs. Santa Susana and malgrat de mar are joined together so it makes a decent walk. 3 or 4 meters out and you'll not be able to touch the floor) and within 30seconds, you're on the strip. The hotel is perfectly located, a 5 minute walk to the beach (which is coursesand and the sea goes very deep very quick. The restaurant can get very overcrowded at meal times so this alone should indicate what the food is like! It's all cooked and while it's not boiling hot, it's warm enough and there's microwave if you want your food to burn your mouth!! I didn't see any mouldy bread in sight. Remember this is a 3star hotel so the drinks and food are basic but enough. The barmen are quick at serving you and are not unfriendly. The pool area doesn't open until 10 so no one can go down eaely to "reserve" a sunbed. There are only about 25 sun loungers but when went (13-27sep) there was never a day when we couldn't get one. The pool area is OK although in my opinion, it should be at the front of the hotel not the back because of the position of the sun, the pool doesn't get the sun until about 12pm. If you need to use the blanket, put it on top of your sheets. I guess we don't have accidents.and yes the blankets were old and scratchy but we slept with the balcony door open most nights. There was no signs of plastic sheets on the bed that has been previously mentioned. We went to the room which, yes, is dated and the TV looks like something out of the stone ages but how much does it really matter? We dont go away to watch tv and spend time in the room. The guy who checked us in at reception was very friendly and helpful. However, the hotel is well sign posted and was easy to find. I was very dubious coming here and when we got dropped off, not at the hotel, I was even more dubious. After reading some of the reviews on here, I seriously considered changing hotels but the prices meant I didnt. I'm writing this review on the last day of my stay here and I don't think the hotel deserves the bad reviews and rating it gets. Here's our starting point: the square with the star punched out, on the left. If you'd like to use the "hatch" method for geometries that fail, there are a few potential workarounds- ways that you can simplify the geometry in generally unobtrusive ways, to fill the region that you want to. Workarounds for hollow geometry hatch fills Beyond all that, it's also a "live path effect," which means that it will automatically reflow as you change the shape of the filled region, and you can even remove the hatch at any time to restore your original object. It produces excellent results that plot smoothly and efficiently, with preset deceleration at each switchback and an absolute bare minimum of pen lifts. While this hatch method is slightly complicated and does not work in every situation, it is without doubt the best method in any situation where it can be used. (It treats the inner cutout path as a separate path to be filled with hatching.) The set of four shapes on the right have the same hatch applied, but we've also pasted a copy of the original outline shapes on top, to give more definition than you get from the fill alone. As you can see, it works well on three of the four shapes but again it does not work on "hollow" areas. In the middle set of four shapes, we've applied the hatch procedure as outlined above. The four original (filled) shapes are on the left: A star, a square, a square with a star punched out- essentially a hollow, ring-shaped fill region - and a smaller square with a star punched out (a set of multiple disjoint regions). This "live path effect" hatching method can handle paths that consist of multiple disjoint regions, for example, a set of stars or non-intersecting circles, but it does not work with "hollow" regions, for example a ring or washer (2D torus) shape. You may also need to use the Fill & Stroke panel to set the stroke to be a visible pen and the fill to "none." A separate tutorial on using this method (skipping the extension) can be found here.
